Signaling, R&D, and Consulting
Three things we deliver — from the authors of RWTS™, the open standard for railroad wayside telemetry.
Railroad signaling is our core. R&D is where we solve problems no one else has tackled — RWTS itself started as an R&D project. Consulting is how we bring both to clients who need specific work done. We're not a staffing agency — we're engineers who solve problems.
Railroad Signal Engineering
- Signal system design — grade crossings, interlockings, CTC
- Hardware configuration — controllers, relays, circuits
- RWTS™ implementation — deploy the open wayside telemetry standard
- System integration — connect disparate equipment and protocols
- AREMA Part 24.2.1 compliance — documentation and standards alignment
Research & Development
When off-the-shelf doesn't exist or doesn't fit, we research, prototype, and build what's needed. RWTS itself started as an R&D project — a solution to a problem no one else was solving. Every R&D engagement has a clear path from concept to deployment; we build things that work in the field, not on paper.
Software Development
- Custom software — web applications, APIs, integrations
- Data analytics — processing pipelines, dashboards, time-series analytics
- Technical architecture — design for scale, security, and maintainability
Enterprise Infrastructure
The same engineering discipline we bring to railroad systems applies to enterprise IT. For organizations that need alternatives to cloud services — regulatory compliance, data sovereignty, or cost control — we deploy and maintain self-hosted collaboration, document management, and secure server infrastructure.
Federal & State Procurement
Set-aside eligible. EPU Engineering is a veteran-owned small business with active SAM.gov registration and a current Florida Veteran Business Enterprise certification. Federal agencies and prime contractors with veteran-business subcontracting goals can engage EPU directly. SDVOSB set-aside eligibility is pending SBA VetCert issuance.
